Accomplishments
We are very proud of our accomplishments, representing business interests in the greater Chequamegon Bay area.
- Represented the business district regarding special snow removal assessments on downtown businesses
- Worked to improve ordinances regulating signage, sandwich boards, and lighting
- Lobbied against storm sewer water utility proposal
- Provided input to Ashland's Comprehensive ordinance
- Sponsored candidate forums for local elections
- Provided debate on city water rates
- Represented downtown businesses regarding Highway 2 reconstruction, primarily focusing on placements of medians to access downtown businesses
- Supported the city's Unified Development Ordinance
- Established ATV routes through the city, allowing access to Lake Superior and Tri-County Corridor
- Provided mentoring for existing and new business development
- Supported responsible street reconstruction, including Beaser Avenue and 11th Avenue East projects
- Promoted discussion on Open Pit Mining in the Penokee Mountain Range
- Encouraged dialogue between the city and Americinn regarding parking facilities
- Sponsor Breakfast Meetings educating businesses on mining issues, new business enterprises, and other items
- Sponsored scholarships to Ashland High School and WITC, to encourage local students to obtain a quality education for employment in our area
